The troops from Braunschweig, Celle and Hildesheim consisted of volunteers and were instrumental in the conquest of Belgrade. The picture also shows the high losses that the regiment suffered when crossing the river, as the pontoons offered little protection. The picture in the middle shows the storming of Banovo on October 8th and the city of Belgrade in the background. The bombardment of the city is finally described in the picture on the right. The triptych has a similar structure to a church altarpiece .
