The Elmberg is 618  m above sea level. NN a heavily forested basalt cone near the village of Seußen in the Fichtelgebirge with the secondary peaks Finkenberg ( 607  m above sea  level ), Altenberg ( 516  m above sea  level ) and Unterer Elmberg ( 494  m above sea  level ) on the extensive west and northwest slopes.

geography

The district road WUN 14 / TIR 19 runs north of the summit and leads to Korbersdorf or to the state road St 2176 , which runs east of the mountain from Arzberg to Konnersreuth . Together with the Feisnitz, they separate the Reichsforst , in which the Elmberg is located, from the Kohlwald . The hamlet of Dornhof is located on the state road to the east, near the main summit .

geology

A large basalt eruption area lies between Marktredwitz , Mitterteich , Konnersreuth and Seußen. It is the westernmost branch of the North Bohemian basalt volcanism. In the Miocene , liquid basalt mass came up through the granite .
