Elsbeth Pulver (born April 21, 1928 , † July 18, 2017 in Bern ) was a Swiss Germanist , literary critic and journalist .

Life

Elsbeth Pulver grew up in Zweisimmen and studied German and history at the University of Bern and the University of Tübingen . With a PhD in German studies, she worked as a high school teacher at the business school in Bern and from 1981 as a freelance literary critic.

Elsbeth Pulver discussed texts a. a. in the newspapers Der Bund , Neue Zürcher Zeitung and Swiss Month . In many cases she has accompanied authors, regularly discussed their works or reissued old ones.

Elsbeth Pulver was president of the cantonal literature commission for a long time and worked for eleven years as a member of the board of trustees and the executive committee of the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia .

Elsbeth Pulver received the Bern City Culture Prize in 2006.
