Elvedin Džinič (born August 25, 1985 , Zavidovići , SFR Yugoslavia, today Bosnia-Herzegovina ) is a Slovenian football player . The defender has been under contract with the Slovenian first division club NK Celje since 2016 .
Athletic career
Džinič comes from the youth of the NK Maribor . In the course of the 2002/03 season he moved up for the first time in the squad of the professional team, but was initially not used. He made his debut in the Slovenska Nogometna Liga in the 2004/05 season, when he was used on April 30, 2005 as a substitute in the relegation round in the 1: 3 defeat against FC Koper . After he became a regular player in the following season, he also entered the scorers list for the first time when he hit the goal in the 2-1 win against ND Gorica on September 11, 1995 alongside Damjan Ošlaj in a goal from Miran Burgić .
In the following seasons Džinič helped that his club established itself in the front division. In the 2008/09 season he ran in 27 games this season for the club and helped with six goals this season on the side of Dejan Školnik , Marcos Morales Tavares , Rene Mihelič , and Zoran Pavlovič to the eighth league title in the club's history. His achievements were rewarded by national coach Matjaž Kek , who nominated him for the first time for the national team in autumn 2009. He sat on the bench in the qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup against Poland and in the play-off first leg against Russia, but was never used. In May 2010 he belonged to Aleksandar Rajčevič , Dare Vršič and Suad Filekovič as one of four players under contract in the home country for the preliminary squad of 30 players for the tournament. Ultimately, he was also in the final squad of the Slovenian national team, but was not used in the tournament. With the NK Maribor he won two championships, once the national cup and also the Supercup. In 2011 he moved to Belgium for Sporting Charleroi and was able to play 65 league games in two and a half years, in which he scored four goals. For the 2013/2014 season he moved to Bulgaria to Botew Plovdiv . After the first half of the season, however, he left the club again for Poland , where he signed with Zagłębie Lubin until the end of the season.
In the summer of 2014, Džinič joined the NK Rudar Velenje in his home country. There he was a regular in central defense for two years before joining league rivals NK Celje in the summer of 2016 . With Celje he played for the qualification for the Europa League , which he missed twice.
