Emil Bahrfeldt

Emil Bahrfeldt (born January 1, 1850 in Prenzlau ; † March 26, 1929 in Berlin ) was a German numismatist and insurance director.

Bahfeldt, son of a landlord in the Uckermark and brother of the future general and also numismatist Max Bahrfeldt , initially studied agriculture in Halle and then worked for the Gothaer Feuerversicherungsbank in Berlin from 1883 to 1922 . In 1888 he was in Tübingen Dr. phil. PhD.

From an early age his whole interest was in numismatics, especially the coinage of Brandenburg in the Middle Ages. Based on the cataloging of the Marienburg coin collection , he wrote a. a. Representations of the coin history of Danzig , Thorn and Elbing . Bahrfeldt also owned an important collection himself, which was auctioned off in 1921.

From 1898 to 1928 he published the Berliner Münzblätter . From 1902 he was chairman of the Numismatic Society in Berlin , from 1906 of the numismatic department of the general association of German history and antiquity associations .
