Emil Bollmann

Emil Bollmann (born August 4, 1885 in Kyburg , Canton of Zurich ; † January 16, 1955 in Winterthur , Canton of Zurich) was a Swiss landscape and figure painter, graphic artist and illustrator of the Düsseldorf School . From 1913 he worked as an art teacher. He also gained importance as the author of art-educational writings.

Life

Bollmann first studied at the Technikum Winterthur with Léon Jean Pétua (1846–1920) and at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Strasbourg with Anton Seder . He then attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he became a student of Ludwig Heupel-Siegen . In Dusseldorf he was also Fritz Helmuth Ehmcke teach, the teacher at the School of Applied Arts Dusseldorf was. In 1913 Bollmann took a position as a canton school teacher (professor) in Winterthur. In 1916 he was a founding member of the Winterthur artist group , from which he left in 1945. Bollmann went on trips to Germany , the former Czechoslovakia and Austria . In 1928 he traveled to Greece . As a commissioned artist for the Education Department of the Canton of Zurich, he created the work Historic Sites in Switzerland in 1912 .
