Emil Hoffmann (architect)

Emil Hoffmann (born March 15, 1845 in Gollantsch , Province of Posen, † January 3, 1901 in Berlin ) was a German architect , Prussian construction clerk and university professor .

After attending grammar school in Gollantsch, he studied at the Berlin building academy and passed the " building foreman test" (1st state examination ) in 1872 . This was followed by a legal traineeship in state construction. It was not until almost two decades later that he passed the "Baumeister-Examen" (2nd state examination) in 1891 and then worked in the technical office of the building construction department at the Prussian Ministry of Public Works in Berlin. While traveling through southern Germany and Italy in 1893 and 1894, he made hundreds of drawings. From October 1, 1895 until his death he taught first as a private lecturer , from 1898 with the title "Professor" in the subject of architectural form theory for civil engineers in Department II for civil engineering at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg .

Buildings built according to his design are not known.
