Emil Johannes Meyer

Emil Johannes Meyer (born July 30, 1885 in Frickenfelden ; † October 31, 1949 in Pappenheim ) was a German publisher and, under his pseudonym Ernst Martin, author of well-known writings on historical calculators and typewriters in several volumes.

Life

Emil Johannes Meyer was born in 1885 in Frickenfelden , today's district of Gunzenhausen in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . Meyer, who had completed a three-year apprenticeship as an office worker, initially worked as a trade correspondent in Paris and London .

After the First World War he lived in St. Gallen , where he completed his first publication on typewriters in 1921.

From 1922 until his death in 1949 he worked as an author and publisher in Pappenheim.

Honors

On October 3, 2009, the International Forum for the Historical Office World unveiled a memorial plaque at the printing house in Pappenheim on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the death of Johannes Meyer.
