Emil Müller (born March 10, 1893 in Gelterkinden ; † February 7, 1974 in Liestal , reformed , resident in Langenbruck ) was a Swiss politician (SP) and architect .

Life

Emil Müller was born on March 10, 1893 in Gelterkinder as the son of the teacher and librarian Emil Müller senior and Anna, born Schäublin. Müller, who first attended the district school in Böckten , then completed an apprenticeship as a draftsman in Liestal at the Brodbeck company, before he began studying architecture at the technical center in Burgdorf , which he completed in 1918 with an architectural diploma.

He then worked as an architect for construction companies in Liestal until he opened his own office in Gelterkinden in the early 1940s . For this purpose he was employed as an appraiser for the Baselland building insurance. In addition, he did active service in both world wars in the position of artillery captain .

Emil Müller married Antonia, born in Palazzuolo sul Senio , in 1947 , Naldoni. He died on February 7, 1974, one month before he would have turned 81 in Liestal.

Political career

Emil Müller, a member of the Cantonal Board of the SP von Baselland , was a member of the municipal commission in Gelterkinden and then was a member of the municipal council as its vice-president . He also acted as president of the secondary school administration. At cantonal level, he represented his party in the district administrator from 1943 to 1963 , of which he was president between 1946 and 1947 and 1953 and 1954. In addition, he was a member of the Council of States for the canton from 1955 to 1967 at the federal level . He was also elected the first President of the Constitutional Council of the Basle in 1960, in which he was represented until 1969. Emil Müller was one of the supporters of the reunification of the two Basel half-cantons.
