Emil Miltenberger

Emil Miltenberger (born August 4, 1900 in Mainz , † April 9, 1981 in Berlin ) was a German anti-fascist , resistance fighter , Spain fighter , worked in the Resistance , as a KPD member and as an SED functionary.

Emil Miltenberger was born as the son of the upholsterer Alexander Miltenberger and the Elisabeth Altstadt in Mainz. He attended elementary school in Frankfurt am Main , completed a commercial apprenticeship and served in the military in 1918.

1919–1923 he was a commercial clerk in Hanau , then went back to Frankfurt am Main and worked there as a stage master, masseur and worker. Miltenberger was politically active in the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition , Red Aid, International Workers Aid, in the Red Front Fighter League (RFB) and took over management positions in the RFB and the KPD in Frankfurt am Main. In 1933 he was arrested and in April 1934 sentenced to three years in prison for "preparation for high treason". From December 1933 to February 1937 he was imprisoned in Kassel and Frankfurt am Main.

In March 1937, Miltenberger fled to Paris , France, before being arrested again . From 1937 to 1939 Miltenberger was a fighter in the International Brigades in Spain. From 1939-40 he was interned in the St. Cyprien and Gurs camps, lived illegally in France until 1945 and did anti-fascist work. a. in the »TA Group in Lyon« (»Charles«) and in the CALPO (Committee Free Germany for the West (France)).

In mid-June 1945 Emil Miltenberger returned to Germany, initially to Frankfurt am Main, where he resumed his political work in the KPD. After being imprisoned by the CIC , Miltenberger moved to the SBZ in 1947 . Here he quickly achieved important functions, first in party offices in Mecklenburg and later in Berlin . In 1950/51 Miltenberger worked for the MdI .

In October 1951 he became a co-founder and employee (administrative director) of the newly founded College for Plan Economics, which later became the College for Economics HfÖ in Berlin-Karlshorst. After another position in the Ministry of National Defense , Miltenberger retired in 1965, but continued to do political honorary posts. He died in Berlin in 1981.

Emil Miltenberger was with the anti-fascist Edith Miltenberger, geb. Rooster married. The couple had 4 children.
