Emil Oberholzer
Emil Oberholzer (born December 24, 1883 in Zweibrücken , † May 4, 1958 in New York ) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst .
The son of a factory director studied medicine at the University of Zurich and received his doctorate in 1908. He trained in psychiatry in Zurich and Schaffhausen . In 1912 he did a training analysis with Sigmund Freud . In 1919 he opened a practice in Zurich. From its founding in 1919 to 1928, Oberholzer was President of the Swiss Society for Psychoanalysis . He was the first to carry out psychoanalysis in German-speaking Switzerland . In 1938 he emigrated to the United States , where he continued to practice as a psychoanalyst.
