Emilio Alonso Larrazábal (born May 25, 1912 in Getxo , Bizkaia , † December 29, 1989 ), also known by the nickname Emilín , was a Spanish football player in the position of the striker .

Life

Alonso began his footballing career in 1929 in the ranks of his home club Arenas and in 1933 moved to the reigning Spanish champions of the previous two years, Real Madrid . "Emilín" was an important part of the "Royal" from the start, with whom he was runner-up in the three consecutive seasons between 1933/34 and 1935/36 and twice ( 1934 and 1936 ) won the Copa del Rey .

When the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936 , organized football in Spain came to a standstill, and the Basque native joined the Basque national team , which began a world tour in 1937 and played CD Euzkadi in the Mexican league in the 1938/39 season .

With the end of the Spanish Civil War, the Basque football team withdrew from the Mexican league in 1939 and the players either went back to their homeland or stayed in Mexico or moved to Argentina . Emilín stayed in Latin America for a few years , where he first played for the top Argentine club San Lorenzo . He then returned to Mexico and played for Real Club España , with whom he played the cup final of the 1940/41 season against the "Spanish" arch-rivals Asturias . Because the game played 2-2 on May 18, 1941 after extra time ended and another game would have been required to determine the cup winner, but the Españistas did not play, Asturias was declared the winner at the green table. In the following season 1941/42 Emilín (probably at the end of his active career) won the championship with España .

In 1936 Alonso played two international matches, which the Spanish national team lost to Austria (4: 5) and Germany (1: 2).
