Emilio Arturo Córdova Daza (born July 8, 1991 in Lima ) is a Peruvian chess player . He is trained by Yuri Castañeda.

Life

In 2002 he became the U12 Pan-American Champion in Villa Giardino, Province of Córdoba , and the U14 Pan-American Champion in Bogotá in 2004 . In 2005 he won the Peruvian Individual Championship. With the Peruvian national team he took part in four Chess Olympiads ( 2004 on the fourth board , 2006 , 2010 and 2014 on the second board) with a positive overall result of 24.5 points from 44 games (+17 = 15 −12). In January 2008 he won the 2nd Jose Marca Castañeda in Memoriam Open in Lima with 8.5 points from 9 games and 1.5 points ahead, in July 2008 the Internacional in Alajuela , Costa Rica with 8 points from 9 games and im December 2008 the 1st Felix Galvany Olivares Memorial Tournament in Matanzas , Cuba.

At the age of nine he was already FIDE Master in 2001 . Since August 2005 he has held the title of International Master . He achieved the norms for this in May 2005 at the anniversary tournament I Magistral Huila 100 Years in Neiva , in July 2005 at the World Open 2005 in Philadelphia and in August 2005 at the Continental Championship in Buenos Aires . He has been a grandmaster since November 2008. He got his first GM norm at the Entel tournament in March 2006 in Santiago de Chile , his second he achieved in May 2006 at the 107th US Open in Oak Brook, Illinois and his third GM norm at Carlos Torre Repetto Memorial in Mérida (Mexico) in December 2007.

In January 2015 he was behind Julio Ernesto Granda Zúñiga in second place in the Peruvian FIDE rankings.
