Emilio Ulloa

Emilio Ulloa Valenzuela (born October 22, 1954 ) is a former Chilean obstacle and middle distance runner .

In 1977 he won silver over 1500 m at the South American Athletics Championships in Montevideo .

In 1979 he was fifth at the Pan American Games in San Juan over 800 m and won the South American Championships in Bucaramanga over 1500 m.

At the South American Championships in La Paz in 1981 , he managed a double victory over 3000 m obstacle and 1500 m.

In 1983 he triumphed over 3000 m obstacle at the Pan American Games in Caracas and took silver at the Ibero-American Championships. At the South American Championships in Santa Fe , he defended his title and won silver in the 800 m.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles he was eliminated from the 3000 m obstacle course in the semifinals, although he set a national record of 8: 28.99 minutes that is still in existence today.

In 1985 he won silver over 1500 m and bronze over 3000 m obstacle at the South American Championships in Santiago .

In 1987 he was fourth over 3000 m obstacle at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis and failed at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in the preliminary run. At the South American Championships in São Paulo he won the 3000 m obstacle and again took silver in the 1500 m.

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he did not get past the first lap over 3000 m obstacle.
