Emily St. John Almond
Emily St. John Mandel (* 1979 in Comox , British Columbia ) is an English-speaking Canadian writer.
life and work
Almond was born and raised on Denman Island off the west coast of British Columbia. When she was 18, she moved to Toronto to study contemporary dance at the School of Toronto Dance Theater . She later lived in Montreal for a short time before moving to New York and writing for the online literary magazine The Millions . She is married to Kevin Mandel.
She has published five novels so far . Her fourth novel, The Light of the Last Days (Station Eleven) , is a dystopia set in the near future in a world depopulated by a virus epidemic. He follows a traveling theater company that moves from place to place in the Great Lakes area to perform Shakespeare plays and music. Station Eleven was nominated for the National Book Award , the PEN / Faulkner Award for Fiction, the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction, and the Sunburst Award , and was honored with the Arthur C. Clarke Award . The film rights were acquired from producer Scott Steindorff . Your fifth novel is about people who have been affected by the recent discovery of a Ponzi scheme .
