Emmanuel Gallard-Lépinay
Paul Charles Emmanuel Gallard-Lépinay (born May 23, 1842 in Aulnay , † early March 1885 in Paris ) was a French marine painter .
Live and act
Gallard was a student of Claude Jacquand . He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1864 to 1884 and was appointed painter to the Ministry of the Navy in 1882 . He first painted coastal landscapes and sea pictures , then he dealt with the fishing life of Normandy as well as harbor scenes from Le Havre , La Rochelle etc. and later switched to the battle picture. In 1877 he took part in the celebrations in Cherbourg and painted scenes of the naval maneuvers .
The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam has a view of Venice made by him . Further pictures are housed in the Musée Thomas-Henry in Cherbourg and in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Quimper .
