Emmelina is a global genus from the family of feather moths (Pterophoridae).

features

The moths are pale rust-brown in color and in Europe they have a wingspan of 18 to 27 millimeters. The front wings are split up to a third. The palps are small and erect, the second and third abdominal segments are straight. In the proximal pair of spurs, the laterally protruding spur is only half as long as the next. The veins R2 and R3 of the forewings are fused, M3 and Cu1 are petiolate.

The representatives of the genus Emmelina are distributed worldwide (see systematics).

Way of life

The larvae of emmelina monodactyla live polyphag at various herbaceous plants, and species of the genera of the winds ( Convolvulus ) and calystegia ( Calystegia be preferred).

Systematics

Of the six species known to date, two are represented in Europe : Emmelina argoteles and Emmelina monodactyla . The latter can also be found in Central Europe and represents the type species of the genus Emmelina , which Linné originally called Phalaena Alucita monodactyla in 1758 .
