Emmenthal is part of the municipality of Bibertal in the Swabian district of Günzburg ( Bavaria ).

location

The hamlet is located in the east of the municipality on an open field on a plateau. It can be reached via two connecting roads from the GZ 3 district road .

history

A court in Emmenthal is mentioned in 1375 in a will of the Ehinger patrician family from Ulm . Originally Emmenthal belonged to the municipality of Schneckenhofen . After the Thirty Years War , the place joined Rieden in 1649 . A large wooden cross on an old barn is said to come from this time. In 1871 Emmenthal came to the municipality of Anhofen .

On the occasion of the Bavarian territorial reform on May 1, 1978, Anhofen was merged with other communities to form the unitary community of Bibertal. In 2011 Emmenthal was connected to the Bühl sewage treatment plant .

Others

The Marienkapelle was built in 1825 by the widow Barbara Häußler on the eastern edge of the village, today the new building is in the center of the village. It has a classical altar with an oil painting of Our Lady of Einsiedeln. Every year on Whit Monday the chapel festival takes place there.

In Riederholz, approx. 900 m to the east, there are 26 prehistoric burial mounds as ground memorials.

There is also a schnapps distillery in the village, which has been in the third generation since 2007.

The place is structured agriculturally, in 2016 there were four full-time and two part-time businesses.
