Stories from the Emslande (1872)

Amalie Ehrenengarte Sophie Wilhelmine (Emmy) von Dincklage-Campe (born March 13, 1825 at Gut Campe , municipality of Kluse (Emsland) , † June 28, 1891 in Berlin ), Protestant-Lutheran, was a German novelist.

She was inclined to poetic attempts from her youth, but it was not until 1857 that she found the courage to come forward in public with the novella The Old Lovers , which appeared in Cotta 's morning paper . Although she spent many years traveling, spent seven winters in Italy , stayed longer in Hungary , Dalmatia , Holland and France , also toured North America from 1880–81, observing everything with a keen eye, her poetry always prefers to tie in with her country and people closer home, so that she has become the poet of the Emsland . From 1866 she was a member of the convent of the free worldly women's monastery in Börstel in the Osnabrück region. She is buried in the small family cemetery at Gut Campe .

Two of her siblings were also active as a writer: Her sister Clara von Dincklage-Campe (1829–1919 in Dresden) was a popular author of historical books for young people in her time, most of which were played during the Baroque and Rococo periods, her brother Friedrich von Dincklage-Campe ( 1839–1918) wrote novels.
