Engelbert Hofmann

Engelbert Hofmann (born October 18, 1900 in Oerlenbach ; † October 20, 1979 there ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Hofmann attended elementary school, St. Ludwig's monastery school and advanced training school before he was deployed as a soldier in France during World War I. In 1920 he became the first director of the Catholic Boys' Association, three years later he took over his father's farm. In 1932 he became a member of the Bavarian People's Party for a short time and sat on the local council for them. From 1934 to 1949 he was a member of the supervisory board of the loan association, during this time he was also a member of the Catholic church administration and was a soldier in World War II . After the war, Hofmann was appointed first mayor of Oerlenbach by the military government in 1945, and in 1948 he became district administrator of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen . From 1950 to 1966 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . He was always directly elected in the district of Bad Kissingen-Stadt und -Land, Bad Neustadt an der Saale (today district of Bad Kissingen ). Hofmann was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit on May 9, 1961 .
