Eniola Aluko (born February 21, 1987 in Lagos ) is an English football player from Nigeria who has been under contract with Juventus Turin since 2018 . She was in the English national team for the 2011 World Cup and in Team GB for the 2012 Olympic Games .

Her brother Sone is also a professional footballer.

Career

Aluko began her career with the Birmingham City Ladies with Karen Carney . She scored her first goal on her league debut against Leeds United at the age of 14. In 2003 the striker was named “Young Player of the Year” by the Football Association . After she was already used in the U-19 and U-21, she made her debut in 2004 at the age of 17 in England's senior team against the selection of the Netherlands.

In 2003 Aluko moved to the Charlton Athletic Ladies and won the FA Women's Cup 2005 with them. In the final, she scored the only goal of the day in the 58th minute. In the 2006 Premier League Cup final , she scored both goals against the Arsenal Ladies in a 2-1 win for her team. After the team was dissolved in 2007, she moved to the Chelsea Ladies and two years later to the United States to the St. Louis Athletica club, which had only been founded a year earlier .

In the summer of 2018, Aluko moved to Juventus Turin in the Italian Serie A and managed with the team coached by Rita Guarino to defend the title won the previous year in 2018/19. She was the most successful goalscorer in her team with 14 goals. In addition, Aluko celebrated winning the Coppa Italia with Juve . She returned to England at the end of November 2019, six months before the end of the contract. As a reason for this decision, she gave that racism in Italy is part of the fan culture. As part of the SheBelieves Cup 2016 , she made her 100th international match for England in the last game in a 0-0 win against France.
