With Arsenal she won the quadruple of championship, cup , league cup , and European cup victory in 2007 . A year later, Carney won the championship and the cup again.

In 2009 she moved to the Chicago Red Stars and took sixth place with the club in the WPS in 2009 and 2010 . After no investor could be found for the WPS 2011 and the Red Stars therefore did not participate in the new season, they returned to England.

From 2011 to 2015 she played again for Birmingham City LFC in the Women's Super League . With Birmingham she won the FA Women's Cup 2012, where she scored the goal to 2-2 in the final against the Chelsea Ladies in the 112th minute and contributed to the 3-2 victory on penalties . She was also runner-up with Birmingham in 2011 and 2012 and took part in the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2012/13 and 2013/14 . In their first participation they won their home game against the Italian runner-up ASD CF Bardolino 2-0 in the round of 32 , but then lost the second leg 3-0 after extra time. Things went better a year later, when in the semifinals against the Swedish champions Tyresö FF after a goalless home game with a 3-0 away defeat the end came.

For the 2016 season, she switched to the Chelsea Ladies , who had won the championship the previous year , but could not defend it - the season ended with the runner-up. They also failed early in the 2016/17 UEFA Women's Champions League : As in the previous year, they lost to last year's finalist VfL Wolfsburg - but this time in the round of 32, with Carney playing in both games.

In 2017 the FA WSL was switched from a summer season to the rhythm of most other European leagues and the 2017 season was held as a "Spring Series" from February to May with eight games per team. The Chelsea Ladies finished first after these eight games thanks to the better goal difference over Manchester City. Carney was one of the third top scorer with several other players with four goals each she scored in seven games, with half of the top ten goalscorers coming from her team.

The new season started in September 2017 and ended with the championship for Chelsea in May 2018. Carney was only used in eight out of 18 games in which she scored three goals. Nor could she contribute anything to the cup win, through which Chelsea achieved the double for the first time . At the same time, the ladies took part in the 2017/18 UEFA Women's Champions League . They eliminated the German runner-up FC Bayern Munich in the round of 16 with a 1-0 home game and a 1-2 away defeat due to the away goals rule . This was followed by two wins in the round of 16 against the Swedish runner-up FC Rosengård and two wins in the quarter-finals against the French runner-up HSC Montpellier . In the subsequent qualification for the 2017 European Championship , she was used in six games and scored six goals. She was the best English goalscorer along with Danielle Carter . Since the English only lost one point in the 1-1 draw against Belgium , they easily qualified as group winners for the European Championship.
