According to the synchronistic story , he waged war against Adad-šuma-uṣur of Babylon. However, Ninurta-apil-ekur left him in the lurch, marched with his troops on Aššur , took it and made himself king. Other sons of Tukultī-Ninurta I seem to have remained at his court.
