Aššur-reš-iši II.
Aššur-reš-iši II. ( Ashur-resch-ischi ) was king of Assyria from about 971 BC. BC to 967 BC Chr.
He succeeded his father Aššur-rabi II on the throne. Little is known about his relatively short reign; the epoch is considered to be the Dark Age of Assyria because of the poor sources. Its name is missing from the SDAS list , but it can still be reconstructed with some certainty. His great-grandson Adad-nirari II describes him in an inscription as a “mighty king who crushed the enemy”, which is hardly historically correct. He was succeeded by his son Tukulti-apil-Ešarra II.
