Ennio Balbo

Ennio Balbo (born April 18, 1922 in Naples , † June 18, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

After working as a lawyer in Caserta for some time, Balbo studied drama at the Sharoff Academy in Rome and was a member of the ensemble around Paola Borboni after the Second World War . He worked with Sharoff again in 1959 on the ambitious production of The Funny Wives of Windsor . Until 1958 he could only be seen on stage alongside his wife Dora Calindri ; his career for television and (from 1962) for film only began at the age of almost 40. He was also a busy voice actor . He was seen on screen in classic plays and original material (under directors such as Gianni Morandi and Anton Giulio Majano ) as well as in television series, including episodes from L'inchieste del commissario Maigret , Sheridan and multi-part series ( L'affare Dreyfus , 1968, for Example). His greatest personal success was the personification of the Prosecutor General in Il processo Karamazoff in 1961/1962 , which Ottavio Spadaro staged. During the heyday of Italian cinema, Balbo, who was almost always bald, was mostly cast as a bank director, wealthy citizen or seedy businessman in his genre roles.
