Stinking dollars (original title: I due facce del dollaro ) is a spaghetti western by Roberto Bianchi Montero . The alternative title is Django - his Colt sings six stanzas , the German-language premiere took place on August 21, 1970.

action

Professor Matematica plans a big raid, which he wants to carry out with the help of the gunslinger Miele, the killed Colonel Blackgrave and the young Janet. They cunningly gain access to Fort Henderson, where the advised gold reserves are stored. Miele is thrown into jail and can escape from there and get to the storage location. Using winches, Janet and Blackgrave can then load the freight onto Matematica's wagon; the stolen sacks are replaced by earth-filled ones. When the group disappears from the scene, Janet is missing; the remaining three are attacked by bandits led by Sinclair - a lieutenant in the garrison. In the fighting, Janet, Miele and Sinclair lose their lives; Blackgrave kills Matematica, who wanted to run off alone with the loot, and is then captured by soldiers from the fort.

criticism

As usual, the lexicon of international films was critically judged with the film: "A cumbersome spaghetti western who gets lost in details at the expense of tension." Christian Keßler , on the other hand, thinks it is a "reasonably exciting and very good-looking film", emphasizing Stelvio Massi on the camera. The minutely described raid on the fort is the best part of the film. The Italian critics also attested that the technically successful film had a mildly original script, but also suffered from the different tempo of the parts. Film Mese deciphered the gold of the film, as with John Huston , as a code for death and loss. The evangelical film observer does not leave the work good hair : "Third-class European western, full of improbabilities in its ability to act, amateurish in its design."

Remarks

The gross profit in Italy was almost 240 million lire .
