Enno Vocke

Enno Vocke (born March 31, 1925 in Sandhorst ; † December 7, 2018 in Essen ) was a German manager . He was on the board of Hochtief AG for more than 20 years and led the company for thirteen years as chairman of the board.

Life

Enno Vocke was born the son of a building contractor. He attended high school in Aurich , where he received his Abitur in 1943. After work and military service, he studied civil engineering from 1946 to 1950 at the TH Karlsruhe .

Vocke worked for Dyckerhoff & Widmann KG in Karlsruhe from 1950 to 1959 . Among other things, he was the construction manager for a hotel in Turkey . So it happened that from 1959 to 1962 he was general director of a German-Turkish construction company. Then he worked in the Munich headquarters of Dyckerhoff & Widmann until 1963 .

From 1963 to 1967 he worked as a managing director at a German- South African construction company, and then until 1969 as director and branch manager of Dyckerhoff & Widmann in Hanover.

In 1969 Vocke became director and member of the management team at Hochtief AG, in 1971 he became a deputy and in 1972 a full member of the board. In 1981 he succeeded Albrecht Schumann as CEO. In 1990 he was also appointed to the board of the parent company RWE AG .

In 1992 Vocke retired due to age at the general meeting and moved to the supervisory board of Hochtief AG. His successor was Hans-Peter Keitel .

Awards

Vocke received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Essen . He has been awarded the professional title of Professor by the Federal President of the Republic of Austria . He is also the holder of the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class.

Memberships

Enno Vocke was a member of the supervisory boards of Commerzbank AG in Berlin , Raab Karcher AG , and Hoesch AG . He was a member of the board of directors of Allianz AG and the German Atomic Forum eV (DAtF) . He was also Chairman of the Advisory Board of Commerzbank AG.

Vocke was married and had two sons and two daughters.
