Enrico Giovannini

Enrico Giovannini (born June 6, 1957 in Rome ) is an Italian economist , economic statistician and former labor minister.

Life

Giovannini graduated in 1981 with a degree in economics from La Sapienza University in Rome and joined ISTAT as a research assistant the following year, where he held various managerial positions over the years. In addition, he was also a professor at various Italian universities. In 2002 he received the Chair of Economic Statistics at the Tor Vergata University in Rome. From 2001 to 2009 he was Chief Statistician and Director of the Statistic Directorate of the OECD in Paris .

From July 2009 to April 2013 he was President of the Statistical Office Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT), from April 28, 2013 to February 22, 2014 he was the independent Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the Letta cabinet .

Giovannini was or is a member of numerous scientific bodies, societies and advisory boards. He has published numerous scientific papers.
