history

Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul

Grünenbaindt was created as a clearing settlement in the 14th century . From 1324 , a settlement with a church and parsonage was built along the then military and trade route Augsburg - Ulm , which led via Freihalden and Jettingen to Günzburg .

description

The center consists of an approximately 750 meter long east-west facing road axis that slopes sharply to the east. About 25 rural properties are lined up close together on both sides.

The settlement's medieval layout is well preserved. The gables of the residential stalls meet the street fronts uniformly and at approximately equal distances . The two-storey plastered gable roof buildings of the late 19th and early 20th centuries have replaced the older ground floor buildings. There are also individual eaves side houses at the two ends of the town. Each property has a house garden , with the delimitation of the garden areas from the field corridor forming the boundary of the ensemble on the north and south sides of the settlement.

Approximately in the middle of the streets angers is the surrounded by the cemetery, late medieval parish church of St. Peter and Paul . Together with the parish hall, it sets a clear accent in the townscape.

The rectory from 1733 also stands out from the rural properties.
