Eppenberg is a hamlet in the area of the municipality of Oberuzwil in the canton of St. Gallen , Switzerland and a castle ruin of the lower noble family of the nobles of Eppenberg , who had jurisdiction in Bichwil and Oberuzwil.
The castle was destroyed during the Appenzell Wars in 1403, but it was rebuilt. It was finally destroyed by lightning in 1521 . Since the rubble was used for the construction of the Catholic Church in Bichwil, there are almost no remains of the castle.

Hiking trails lead from Eppenberg to the surrounding villages of Bichwil (municipality of Oberuzwil ), Flawil and Oberrindal (municipality of Jonschwil ) as well as the nearby mountains Wildberg , Chapf and a nearby unnamed peak. In the settlement there is a dining restaurant at about 800 meters above sea level . Under favorable conditions, the view extends to Lake Constance . Until 2006, open-air cinema performances were held there under the name Garten-Kino Eppenberg .
In winter, the Kreienbergstrasse from Bichwil to the Eppenberg settlement is closed as a toboggan run . A nostalgia ski race takes place at irregular intervals , which is held on historic skis and barrel staves . On January 1, 2011, the sixth edition of the race took place.
