Equilibrism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The concept of equilibrism (composed of Latin: aequus (equal) and libra (scales)) is a holistic approach that considers the existential global problems in the social, political and ecological area in an overall context in order to be able to find sustainable solutions to to find a third way between capitalism and communism . Equilibrism also refers to an association that acts globally and tries to publicize and implement these goals.

concept

The concept of equilibrism is presented by Volker Freystedt and Eric Bihl in the book Equilibrism - New Concepts Instead of Reforms for a World in Balance .

Equilibrism (“equilibrium”) does not want to “reform” faulty systems, but rather to develop new models by returning to the basic questions. This applies above all to our economic system, but also to politics , ecology , culture and social affairs as a result. In doing so, the overall view is always important to equilibrism, taking into account all the consequences of our activities. In contrast to the anthropocentric view that is prevalent today , the socio-ecological economic concept of equilibrism recognizes the rules and circulatory laws of nature and sees humans as part of nature.

The six cornerstones are:

  1. Eco alternatives, efficiency and structural redesign: Equilibrism strives to give priority to alternative products and processes that are biodegradable and more efficient in terms of energy use.
  2. Natural cycle economic system: Sustainable economic activity requires an economic system that works according to the natural principle of a cycle, on a local as well as on a global level.
  3. Sustainable economic order: Sustainable economic activity means that scarce and non-reproducible goods such as land and mineral resources are not used for speculative purposes. A reformed monetary order would also have to reduce money to its mediator role between real economic processes. For example, a money use tax and, if the money is not used, a circulation security fee should be charged. In addition, regional money , where this is already in use, should complement national currencies so that regional products and services are given priority. Taxes should no longer be levied on income, but on consumption, for example the owners of real estate should pay an annual land tax, which should amount to 5% of the property value. In order to increase cost awareness, health insurances are to have a split account in the future, with the insured having to top up one of the two parts again and again by paying contributions, similar to private health insurances. So that children are no longer neglected, they should also be included in the pension insurance, as is already the case with health insurance. Overall, most of the economic demands of equilibrism are borrowed from free economy .
  4. Global citizenship, UN reform: only in a world federal system could the interests of all relevant actors be brought into a constructive and sustainable context across all levels. This requires a new awareness and reform of the United Nations . This is to create a UN parliament modeled on the European Parliament . In addition, an international civil court is to be established to settle conflicts between the different trade rules and environmental agreements.
  5. New, four-part order for society and the state: In addition, the equilibrists also strive for a new order for society and the state. Instead of a single parliament, there would be four parliaments in an equilibristic state, the political, economic , cultural and fundamental values parliament . The equilibrism hereby takes up the theory of the four-part structure of Johannes Heinrichs . The administration should be regionalized and work according to the principle of subsidiarity .
  6. Detachment from dependencies as a social ideal: In addition, the equilibrists strive to detach from culturally and economically created dependencies that are harmful to the common good , which is often presented as a renunciation from our currently unreflected addiction and would probably also be experienced by the addicts.

fiction

The author Dirk C. Fleck wrote a total of four books on equilibrism. (see section literature)

  1. In The Tahiti Project , he describes how the concept of equilibrism is implemented in Tahiti in French Polynesia . The book was awarded the German Science Fiction Prize 2009.
  2. In the sequel MAEVA! (as a paperback Das Südsee-Virus ) tells how equilibrism prevails worldwide.
  3. In 2015, Fleck closes the Maeva trilogy with fire at its feet .
  4. In contrast, the novel GO! The eco-dictatorship , what would happen if no voluntary holistic change came about.

reality

In order to show that the socio-ecological concept of equilibrism can work, a model state should be created based on its model. Equilibrismus eV is currently examining regions that could be suitable for this. According to the association, independent islands with a manageable economic area, political and social stability are best suited for this. But private islands or an extraterritorial area in Iceland could also be considered for model projects. The focus is on French Polynesia , where a model region is to be created. After the original preferred candidate Moorea failed, the island of Rapa Iti and the island state of Niue are now being examined .

Sponsor

  • Equilibrism is supported and promoted by the Austrian company Sonnentor .
  • The suggestion for writing the novel The Tahiti Project by Dirk C. Fleck is said to have been given by Peter Ustinov . He wants the ideas [of equilibrism] to spread. A novel could turn into a film that could reach many people around the world.
