Erhard Lauterbach

Erhard Lauterbach (born January 8, 1570 in Jauer , † December 16, 1649 in Zeitz ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and pastor .

Life

Lauterbach was born the son of pastor Johann Lauterbach († 1574) and his wife Dorothea Reimann († 1580). After his first school education in his place of birth, he attended the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium and the Elisabeth-Gymnasium in Breslau. From 1591 to 1594 he studied theology at the University of Leipzig . Here he acquired his baccalaureate on October 2, 1591, and a master's degree in philosophy on January 14, 1594. In 1598 he became vice principal of the Thomas School in Leipzig . In 1601 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty in Leipzig. On May 10, 1602 he became pastor of the Protestant Church of St. Michael in Zeitz and in 1603 superintendent of the Naumburg monastery in Zeitz. After he had acquired on October 3, 1605 the Leipzig Academy licentiate of theology, he received his doctorate there on October 23, 1606 to Dr. theol. He was the inspector of the Zeitz Abbey School and founded the library of the Michaeliskirche . He refused calls for prestigious parish positions in Hamburg, Prague and Eisleben.

Lauterbach was married twice. His first marriage was in Zeitz in 1602 with Catharina Sparwart (* 1579 in Zeitz; † April 17, 1613 ibid.), The daughter of Zeitz mayor Valentin Sparwart and his wife Agnes Bauch. His second marriage was on October 24, 1614 with Maria Magdalena Lindner (born May 27, 1584 in Pforta; † January 27, 1645 in Zeitz), the widow of the superintendent in Plauen Hieronymus Kromayer (1572-1613), the daughter of Naumburg Mayor and Rector of the Electoral Saxon State School Pforta Jakob Lindner and his wife Maria Magdalena Selnecker. A son and three daughters come from their first marriage. Daughter from second marriage. He raised his stepson, Hieronymus Kromayer , from the age of four. From the children we know:
