Gustaf Eric Carlberg (born April 5, 1880 in Karlskrona , † August 14, 1963 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish marksman , fencer and pentathlete .

Eric Carlberg, who started for various clubs in Stockholm , first took part in the 1906 Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens , where he competed in eight competitions, but won no medal. He took part in the Olympic Games three times , mostly in shooting, but also occasionally in fencing and once in modern pentathlon . In 1908 Carlberg made his Olympic debut in London . In the team competition with the small-bore rifle in the prone position, he secured the silver medal when he and his twin brother Vilhelm Carlberg , Frans-Albert Schartau and Johan Hübner von Holst scored 737 points, finishing second behind Great Britain and ahead of France. In addition, he competed in four other disciplines, but he did not succeed in placing. At the same time, Carlberg took part in the fencing competitions with the epee, where he was eliminated early in the individual and finished fifth with the team. At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912, he won a total of four medals while taking part in eight shooting disciplines. In the competition with the small bore rifle over 25 m on a disappearing target, he was Olympic champion in the team competition alongside Gustaf Boivie , Vilhelm Carlberg and Johan Hübner von Holst . With 238 points, he was the team's best shooter. He won another gold medal in the team competition with the army revolver. Together with Paul Palén , Vilhelm Carlberg and Johan Hübner von Holst, he finished the competition ahead of the Russian and British teams in first place. In the prone stop over 50 m with the small bore , he completed the team competition with Vilhelm Carlberg, Arthur Nordenswan and Ruben Örtegren in second place, as well as the team competition with the free pistol over 50 m alongside Georg de Laval , Vilhelm Carlberg and Erik Boström . In fencing , he took fourth place with the Degen team, and he also took part in the modern pentathlon competition, which he did not finish. In 1924 he only competed in the individual competition with the rapid-fire pistol in Paris and finished in 15th place.
Like his twin brother, Carlberg became an officer in 1901, both of whom retired from active service as major . He married in 1924. In 1930 he became the Swedish consul in Tehran , and from 1935 to 1958 Carlberg worked there as the Finnish consul general .
