Eric Neal

Eric Neal

Eric Neal (born June 3, 1924 in London ) is an Australian businessman and former Governor of South Australia .

Life

After studying engineering at the South Australian School of Mines (now part of the University of South Australia ), he became a successful businessman. In 1963 he started at Boral , an Australian manufacturer of building materials, and was its chairman from 1973 to 1987. He then held a managerial position at Fairfax Media and BHP Billiton , among others .

From 1996 to 2001 he was governor of the state of South Australia. After his tenure, he was Chancellor of Flinders University from 2002 to 2010 .
