Kevin Scarce
Kevin John Scarce (born May 4, 1952 in Adelaide , Australia ) is a retired Australian Rear Admiral . D. and Acting Governor of South Australia .
Life
Scarce grew up in Woomera and joined the Australian Navy in 1968 . He took part in the Vietnam War on board HMAS Sydney . In 1975 he married Elizabeth Anne Taylor.
After the Vietnam War, he made a career in various posts within the supply chain and was promoted to rear admiral. From 1995 to 1997 he was head of the main training base of the Australian Navy, HMAS Cerberus .
On May 3, 2007 it was announced that Scarce would be named the next governor of South Australia, despite having spoken out several times as a supporter of Australia's transformation into a republic . When he was appointed on August 8, he was the youngest governor South Australia had ever had.
