Janika Sprunger (born May 29, 1987 ) is a Swiss show jumper .
Private
As the daughter of the show jumper Hansueli Sprunger and the riding instructor Dominique Sprunger-Torsi, she grew up with horses. Her brother is the football player Michel Sprunger and her uncle Christian Sprunger also played football.
From mid-2010, Sprunger was in a relationship with the Spanish show jumper Manuel Añón . In the meantime, the Italian show jumper Piergiorgio Bucci was her life partner, at the end of 2015 she moved to live with him in Budel (Netherlands), she had her horses in the Belgian neighboring town of Hamont-Achel . In 2017 she separated from Bucci and has been in a relationship with the Swedish show jumper Henrik von Eckermann since then , and in 2018 she moved to his facility in Wachtberg- Niederbachem near Bonn.
Career
Janika Sprunger achieved her first championship successes early on and took part in the Junior and Young Rider European Championships from 2005 to 2008.
Until 2009, Janika Sprunger was successful in jumping competitions for young riders (juniors, young riders) and won the European Youngster Cup evaluation test in Neuendorf in 2009 . However, in 2008 she was given the opportunity to start at the CSI 5 * tournaments in Zurich and Mechelen.
In July 2009 she qualified for the Swiss Cup Final of the best four in Ascona. In November 2009 she achieved her first international success in the age group of riders by winning the Grand Prix of the CSI 2 * Herstal (Belgium).
Janika Sprunger was nominated for a Nations Cup team for the first time in 2010 and competed in the CSIO 5 * National Awards in Rome and Falsterbo. In 2011 she competed in the Global Champions Tour for the first time and several times . In the same year she started at the CSIO Switzerland in St. Gallen and took second place in the Nations Cup with the Swiss team . At the CSI5 * in San Patrignano she finished 2nd in July at the Stuttgart Grand Prix she was 5th.
In July 2012 she became the Swiss elite champion for the first time with Graciella II in Schaffhausen . She succeeded her father, who had won the championship a year earlier. A year later, she came second in the lavishly endowed Grand Prix of Aachen . At the European Championships in 2013 she was the best Swiss woman with Palloubet d'Halong and finished seventh in the individual standings, while Switzerland came fifth in the team standings.
At the European Championships in Aachen 2015 , she and the team won the bronze medal.
