Erich (Schaumburg)
Erich von Holstein-Pinneberg (* 1420 , † 24 / 25. March 1492 ) was the reigning Count of Holstein-Pinneberg .
He was the second son of Otto II von Holstein-Pinneberg and Elisabeth von Hohnsteins . He was married to the lifting of East Friesland , daughter of Ulrich I . The marriage remained childless.
He ruled Holstein-Pinneberg and the county of Schauenburg from 1464 to 1474 together with his eldest brother Adolf X. and from 1474 to 1492 together with his brother Anton . During the reign of his brother Adolf X. in 1472 he had a renaissance castle built in Pinneberg in place of the old castle.
In 1486 Erich founded a Franciscan monastery in Stadthagen , which was only completed after his death. The historian Cyriacus Spangenberg (1528–1604) writes about the life of Eric II in the Stammgrafschaft Schaumburg in his book Chronicon and a historical description of the laudable old Grafschaft Schaumburg :
“Erich the 2nd Graff zu Holstein Schawenburg donates the barefoot Closter to the Stadthagen. Item the Süsterhaus zu Oldendorff, went with a war Volck to the Fürstenthumb Braunschweig for Sarstedt , disturbed and burned the same and then lay down and died in Anno 1485 [!], On Sunday Oculi, and was buried in Stadthagen in the Barfüsser Closter .
