Erich Börschel
Erich Börschel (born August 8, 1907 in Kamp am Rhein, † July 17, 1988 in Plön ) was a German composer and orchestra leader of upscale light music . He was known as the composer of the Foxtrot Spatzenkonzert , for which Peter Igelhoff later wrote the text, and the Bell Serenade .
Life
Börschel was the son of the railway station assistant Hermann Börschel, who from 1909 also worked as the choir director of the MGV Braubach . Erich Börschel studied in Mainz with Hans Rosbaud , was initially a repetitor and conductor at the Stadttheater Mainz from 1927 to 1931 and then went to the Reichsender Königsberg as an arranger and pianist , where he founded his own dance and entertainment orchestra in the spring of 1933 . On behalf of the Reichsmusikkammer he played the music for the program Vom Cakewalk zum Hot with this orchestra in 1935 , with which the audience should learn how jazz , which the Nazis disliked, sounded like. He stayed in Königsberg as an orchestra conductor until the city fell and fled to West Germany. In 1946, Börschel found a job with Radio Frankfurt and directed its entertainment orchestra (later: the Hessischer Rundfunk entertainment orchestra ), which he helped set up, until 1962. After 1962, he worked as a freelancer for the "Hessenmusikanten", an ensemble of the Hessischer Rundfunks . He shaped programs like Boerschel's Bunter Bilderbogen and the Frankfurter Wecker . In the course of his life he produced over 500 music tracks, most of which he arranged himself. After 1972 he lived as a pensioner in Plön in Schleswig-Holstein .
