Erich Bockemuehl

Erich Bockemühl ( pseudonym : Eberhard Büren ; born June 12, 1885 in Bickenbach , Oberbergisches Land ; † May 12, 1968 in Drevenack , Lower Rhine ) was a German educator and writer .

Life

Erich Bockemühl was the son of a teacher. He grew up in Kettwig near Essen . During his time as a junior teacher in Barmen , he belonged to the Charon circle around Otto zur Linde . From 1914 Bockemühl worked as a primary school teacher in Drevenack near Wesel . There he also worked as a writer and organist and maintained contacts with numerous musicians and visual artists , including Otto Pankok . During the twenties Bockemuehl increasingly developed into a supporter of ethnic and reactionary ideas; after 1933 he openly sided with the National Socialists and published a. a. Texts in the party-affiliated culture magazine "Rheinische Blätter". From 1941 Bockemühl was principal at a school in Mönchengladbach , later he worked in Rheydt-Odenkirchen . In 1944, most of his manuscripts were destroyed in a bomb attack . After 1945 he continued his work as a writer , but now limited himself to non-political topics and the publication of books for children and young people .

Erich Bockemühl's literary work consists of stories , essays , poems and plays . The remains of his estate are in the Heinrich Heine Institute in Düsseldorf .
