Erich Geiersberger (born May 17, 1926 in Taubenbach (Reut) ; † April 16, 2012 ) was a German agricultural scientist and journalist .

life and work

Geiersberger submitted his doctoral thesis in March 1954 at the Faculty of Agriculture at the Technical University of Munich .

In 1958 he founded the first machine ring in Bavaria and thus laid the foundation for increased cooperation between agricultural businesses, which, according to observers, counteracted the extent of structural change in Bavarian agriculture. The idea of ​​the machine ring was also taken up in other European countries and beyond.

From 1959 to 1991 he was head of the Landfunk department of Bayerischer Rundfunk . During this time he founded the program Unser Land , which has been shown on Bavarian television since 1964 .

From 1977 to 1992 he was chairman of the Bavarian Association of Journalists (BJV). The Academy of the Bavarian Press was founded on his initiative in 1986 .
