Erich Große

Erich Große (born March 1, 1925 in Dresden ; † March 19, 2009 in Kamenz ) was a German educator and non-fiction author.

Life

Erich Große was born in Dresden, but grew up in Kamenz, since his father was transferred to the Kamenz administration as a treasurer . Erich Große graduated from high school in 1943 at the traditional Lessing School in Kamenz. After military service and imprisonment, Grosse attended the teacher training institute in Rochlitz in 1948 . From 1949 he was a specialist teacher for biology and chemistry at the primary school in Bischheim and in 1953 moved to the extended secondary school "Lessing School" in Kamenz. At the Pedagogical University of Potsdam he obtained the license to teach both subjects up to the Abitur level by distance learning until 1964. He retired in 1990 as a senior teacher. Even after the age of 65, Erich Große was employed several times at the Lessing School Gymnasium, as there was a shortage of specialist chemistry teachers in Kamenz shortly after the political change .

Erich Große was married and had a daughter.

Erich Große became known far beyond Germany as an author of non-fiction books. Together with his friend, the physicist Christian Weißmantel , he founded the series of “… self-experienced” books, which initially appeared as part of the series That Can You Can Do with New Life Publishing and since 1965 by Urania Verlag . The book Chemistry itself experienced alone was published by Urania Verlag in four continuously revised editions and 65,000 copies were printed in Leipzig. In addition, licensed editions of Chemistry itself experienced and Biology itself experienced have been published by Aulis Verlag Cologne and the Buchgemeinde Vienna, as well as translations into several languages, including Bulgarian, Polish, Russian and Czech.
