Erich Mansen

Erich Mansen (born December 30, 1929 in Flensburg ; † June 9, 2012 ) was a German artist and university lecturer for painting and drawing . Most recently he lived in Lichtenstein .

Life

From 1950 to 1954 Erich Mansen studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Professors Otto Laible and Walter Becker and at the ENSBA in Paris with Professor Maurice Brianchon . He then worked from 1954 to 1971 as an art teacher at various high schools in Schleswig-Holstein , Flensburg and Reutlingen as well as at the Tübingen study seminar , where he was most recently a high school professor. In 1962 he moved to Reutlingen. It was there that his extensive graphic work began, and he met HAP Grieshaber , who also worked and lived there.

On October 1, 1971, he was appointed professor for painting and drawing (successor to Hannes Neuner ) at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart , an office that he held until his retirement in 1995. In addition to his academy studio at Weißenhof, he worked artistically in Kißlegg / Allgäu , since 1987 in a studio in Reutlingen and since 1993 in Lichtenstein.

In September 2005 Erich Mansen donated a representative selection of his works from 1965 to 2005 to the city of Reutlingen. The donation, consisting of 12 paintings as well as 55 drawings and watercolors, was added to the collection of the Reutlingen Municipal Art Museum .
