biography

Wasicky was a doctor of pharmacy. He belonged to the NSDAP (membership number 197.249) and the SS (membership number 298.370). Between June 1940 and January 1944 he worked as a camp pharmacist in the Mauthausen concentration camp. Wasicky was responsible for the selection and gassing of hundreds of victims in the camp . No precise figures are available about the number of those murdered. 3,140 people were gassed in Hartheim, and around 12,000 people died there when gas vans were used.

Wasicky was one of the drivers of the gas truck that was used between Mauthausen and the Gusen concentration camp about 5 kilometers away . Up to 30 people were killed per trip by toxic car exhaust or by Zyklon B. He was also responsible for the gassing campaigns in the context of campaign 14f13 in Hartheim Castle . After building the gas chambers in the Mauthausen concentration camp, he carried out the selection and gassings there. Trial witnesses report that he was responsible for both the provision of Zyklon B and its use.

After the end of the war, Wasicky was sentenced to death on May 13, 1946 by a US military court as part of the Dachau trials in the main Mauthausen trial . The sentence was carried out by hanging on May 28, 1947 in the Landsberg War Crimes Prison .
