Erna Voigt

Erna Voigt (* 1925 ) is a German illustrator and author .

Life

As an author, Erna Voigt worked on great fairy tales from world literature for children and young people , which are still part of the standard repertoire for children's reading experience in children's libraries to this day . Their fairy tale versions were also translated into other languages, including a. Translated into English , French , Spanish , Italian , Danish , Dutch and Polish and received international attention. Editions of her books can be found in numerous renowned libraries abroad.

In 1976 she was awarded the Bavarian Television commissioned for broadcast by Sergei Prokov'evs Peter and the Wolf to paint 13 large screenshots whole. They were each large-format acrylic paintings . The program was shown and repeated several times on Bavarian television. Hans Clarin was the narrator and Rafael Kubelík the conductor in this production with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra . As part of a public library exhibition of the pictures, Erna Voigt also organized an afternoon reading for children. She later donated twelve of these scenes to the International Youth Library at Blutenburg Castle in Munich . She also left the illustrations for Reineke Fuchs (1981, retold by Hans Baumann) and for ETA Hoffmann's Nutcracker and Mouse King (1986) to the IJB Blutenburg Castle. The estate was handed over to the IJB in 1983 and 1986.

Her illustrations for Peter and the Wolf , first published in 1979, received an honorable mention in 1980 at the “Premio Critici in Erba” in Bologna . Erna Voigt is also mentioned with further references in the standard English work Something About the Author: Facts and Pictures About Authors and Illustrators of Books for Young People .

Her adaptation of the fairy tale of Peter and the Wolf is considered to be of musical interest and is used in the context of music education for children. As an illustrator she worked a. a. with the author Gina Ruck-Pauquèt .
