Ernest Jomini (* 1921 ; † August 14, 2016 ) was a local Swiss patriot and local historian .

Life

Jomini was the son of a pastor, brother of two pastors and worked as a Reformed pastor in the parishes of Lignerolle , du Sentier et de Pomy VD until he changed his denomination . He became a member of the Ligue vaudoise and campaigned for their interests, for example against the merger of the cantons of Vaud and Geneva and for the independence of the canton of Jura . When he was around 40 years old, he joined the Roman Catholic Church . This led to tensions with Marcel Regamey , the president of the Ligue , who was for ecumenism and against individual religious changes. Even so, Jomini remained loyal to the Ligue throughout his life.

Jomini married and had children, so he gave up his pastoral profession. He was responsible for the Notre-Dame de Tours retirement home in Cousset and later became a language and history teacher at the Collège de Estavayer . Jomini was also President of SRT Vaud and ombudsman of Radio Télévision Suisse Romande . In retirement he was a city guide in Lausanne; This resulted in a series of texts he published in 2012 and 2013. He spent the last weeks of his life in a retirement home in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne .
