Ernst Adolf Heinrich Emil Max Baltzer (born March 21, 1899 in Rostock , † 1992 in Hanover ) was a German lawyer, attorney and notary .

biography

Ernst Baltzer was the son of a factory inspector. He graduated from the Realgymnasium in Rostock and studied from the summer semester 1921 initially philology and from the winter semester 1921/22 law at the University of Rostock and at the University of Göttingen . It was founded in 1927 with the thesis The satisfaction law of § 1003 (BGB.) In Rostock Dr. jur. doctorate and from 1931 had a law firm and notary in Schwerin on Wismarschen Strasse .

In 1931 he joined the NSDAP . From 1931/32 he also worked for the NS Gauleiter for Mecklenburg and Lübeck Friedrich Hildebrandt as a legal advisor and from 1932 as the head of the NS Gaurerechtsstelle. Later, in addition to his lawyer function, he was active as district manager for the NS-Gau Mecklenburg until 1942 .

From 1933 to 1938 he was Deputy President and from 1938 to 1942 President of the Bar Association and the Chamber of Notaries of Mecklenburg. From 1939 he was a member of the Academy for German Law and also a judicial councilor . From 1939 to August 1940 he served as a non-commissioned officer in World War II

In 1942 he was a defense attorney in a case against the later murderer Ulm. He is said to have unknowingly supplied his client with a small-caliber pistol with which he shot two police officers while attempting to escape. Baltzer initially denied this, but later had to admit it and then lost all of his legal offices at the end of 1942. He was expelled from the NSDAP. He served in the armed forces from 1943 to 1945.
