Ernst Danz (born October 19, 1822 in Neustadt, West Prussia , † May 28, 1905 in Iserlohn ) was a German educator and conservationist .

The son of an agricultural official studied theology and philology in Jena , Halle and Berlin and was a teacher in Siegen and Hagen . In 1863 he moved to the Iserlohn Realgymnasium (today Märkisches Gymnasium Iserlohn ), where he became a high school professor in 1880. Danz did his job until the old age of 79.

The founder of the Iserlohn department of the Sauerland Mountain Association was considered an outstanding conservationist in his time. The city of Iserlohn made him an honorary citizen in 1902 because of his educational and public services . Danz, bearer of the Red Eagle Order , was erected in 1909 with the Danz Tower . Iserlohner Straße Danzweg is also named after him.
