Ernst Huebner

Ernst Wolfgang Hübner (* 1840 ; † November 22, 1905 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German engineer and entrepreneur .

Life

Together with his business partner Alfred Wegelin (1841–1888), Hübner was the founder and owner of the later internationally active and well-known machine factory and iron foundry Wegelin & Hübner in Halle. The company produced pumps , compressors , presses , ice and cooling machines based on the Linde process and steam machines for breweries , sugar factories and the chemical industry . The iron foundry was affiliated in 1873. In 1899 the company was converted into a stock corporation, which in 1901 took over the competitor Hallesche Union AG (emerged from the companies Wolff & Meinel , Vaass & Littmann and HW Seiffert ) as part of a merger .

Hübner received the honorary title of a (royal Prussian) secret commercial councilor . In 1898 the spa town of Bad Kissingen granted him honorary citizenship in recognition of his 25th stay at the spa. In the following year, 1899, Hübner donated the sandstone bench in Ballinghain . The "Hübner bench" was made by the sculptor Valentin Weidner in Bad Kissingen.
