Ernst Meier

Ernst Heinrich Meier (born May 17, 1813 in Rusbend , Schaumburg-Lippe , † March 2, 1866 in Tübingen ) was a German orientalist and narrative researcher.

Life

Ernst Heinrich Meier became a private lecturer in 1841 and a professor of Semitic languages ​​and literatures in Tübingen in 1848. His main works are devoted to the study of Hebrew and Phoenician .

He was also active in the field of Swabian legends and published several collections of legends, fairy tales and songs.

He also published a biography of his benefactress, Princess Karoline von Schaumburg-Lippe, who died in 1846, a collection of his own poems (under the pseudonym E. Minneburg) and various transcriptions, especially from Sanskrit.
