Ernst Joerges

Ernst Jörges (born April 1, 1874 in Klein Kiesow , Western Pomerania , † March 20, 1926 in Berlin ) was a German imperial judge and anti-Semitic politician.

Life

After attending high school in Rostock , he first studied law and camera science at the University of Leipzig . In 1891 he became active in the Corps Budissa . When he was inactive , he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and the University of Rostock (1893). Here he also received his doctorate as a court assessor in 1900 . He later worked as a Reich Economic Judge at the Reich Economic Court in Berlin, which was founded in 1919 . He was particularly interested in anti-Semitism . His signature can be found under the anti-Semitic appeal of thePan-German Association of October 19, 1918. He then became a member of the "Jewish Committee" formed by this organization at the end of October 1918 (alongside Konstantin Freiherr von Gebsattel , founder and chairman of the "Germanenloge", Wilhelm Bacmeister, Georg Fritz , August Gebhard, Alfred Jacobsen, Paul Langhans , Julius Friedrich Lehmann , Karl Lohmann , Paul Lucius, Gustav Petzoldt, Alfred Roth , Wilhelm Schlueter, Leopold von Vietinghoff-Scheel, Adolf Bartels and Ferdinand Werner ). This resulted in the German Protection and Defense Association in Bamberg in February 1919 to combat Judaism and in October 1919 through the merger with the Reichshammerbund and the Deutschvölkischer Bund the German Protection and Defense Association , which was banned in the wake of the fememord of Walter Rathenau in 1922 . Joerges continued to appear as the author of anti-Semitic publications. He died shortly before his 52nd birthday. His grave is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
